About Me...Michelle Watt
I have had a variety of life adventures which include surviving a tornado in Rapid City, South Dakota, getting lost in Harlem, New York and pipelining in -40C weather. I have a great love for the outdoors, where I hike, ski, bike and camp. I also enjoy scrapbooking all of my family's adventures. I That adventure confirmed for me that the classroom is where I need to be.
I was born and raised west of Cochrane Alberta, close to the Wildcat Hills and in plain view of Devil's Head Mountain. I went to a small country school called Westbrook and I quite literally had to walk uphill both ways to school ( our driveway had two different slopes in it). After graduating from Cochrane High School I headed to Mount Royal College. I quickly transferred to University of Lethbridge and left after a semester. I took a year off to work and think about where I really wanted to go. In the fall of 1993 I entered the Fashion Merchandising and Apparel Production Program at Olds College as an Apparel Production Major. I college rodeoed and worked four different events, was elected barrel racing director and also was the Female Athlete of the Year. Two years later I graduated with a diploma. Essentially I can take a concept or picture of a garment and see it through all phases of production to the finished product. I really enjoyed the program and it has served me well. I opened my own business, Three Over Half Diamond Designs after graduating in 1995. I specialized in horse blanket washing and repairing. The same month I opened my business, I met my husband Kirby Watt. We were married in 1997 and have two wonderful children, Ethan and Payton. Although I believe I was placed on this earth to be a mother to my children, I also feel I have a "calling" to be a teacher. I did not believe in such things until I worked as an Educational Assistant. I had the opportunity to be an Educational Assistant in the public school system for six years. I feel vibrant, alive and get a rush from helping students learn. So after careful deliberation with my family, we decided for me to go back to school to become a teacher. I would not be able to fulfill my dreams if it was not for the support they give to me. I am excited to have my own classroom.
